Passport issuance to resume in 14 provinces

KABUL: The issuance process of passport began in 14 provinces, said Mawlavi Alam Gul Haqqani Head of Passport Directorate Bakhtar News Agency(BNA) reported the other day.
“The process of issuing passports started yesterday in 14 provinces,” said Mawlavi Haqqani in a press conference, according to BNA.
For the issuance of new passports needed personnel and technical equipment is prepared in the provinces, added Mawlavi Haqqani.
He called on people to avoid providing fake documents or paying unofficial commission agents.
He also asked the residents of other provinces not to apply in Kabul because their passports will only
be issued in their own provinces. Mawlavi Haqqani asked people and the media not to believe in rumors and baseless news. He denied the reports suggesting that the passport department had run out of passports.
At the same time, Haqqani assured that General Directorate of Passports has enough copies of passports and it does not require more passports for fifteen months.
Regarding printing new passports and about rising the price of passports, Haqqani said that no decision has been made yet in these regards.
The process of passport issuance in Kabul will restart as soon as the technical equipment and tools purchased for the capital arrive, the agency quoted Haqqani as saying.
