KABUL: The country’s National Defense Minister, Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid rejected Islamabad’s interior minister’s claims that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had safe havens inside Afghanistan, a statement from the ministry’s press office said Monday.
The IEA Defense Minister asked the Pakistani officials to solve their problems through diplomatic channels and avoid such provocative and baseless claims that would have negative impact on both friend and neighboring countries’ relations, the statement quoted.
According to the statement, Afghanistan is an independent country and has always defended its territorial integrity.
The Pakistan’s interior minister in an interview with a local TV has said that if Kabul let the TTP use the Afghan soil to attack Pakistan, Islamabad would carry out airstrikes on their shelters in Afghanistan, the statement quoted.
Meanwhile, a number of political experts have said, the statement of Pakistani minister was completely against the international standards and the two countries should solve their problems through diplomatic ways.
“A country can attack when it is being attacked by another country,” the statement quoted political experts as saying.
This is not the first time, accusations are made against Afghanistan, particularly, after the takeover of the country by the Islamic Emirate, Islamabad has always made the claim that Afghanistan was harboring anti-Pakistan militant groups inside its territory, but always the IEA wants to reaffirm its commitment that it would be take any possible step to prevent any activities threatening the security of the neighboring and the regional countries.
