Pakistan shuts Torkham crossing for cargo trucks over visa issues

JALALABAD: Pakistani soldiers once again closed Torkham crossing for cargo trucks from Afghanistan over drivers lacking visas, the provincial Information and Culture Department said in a statement Saturday. This gate was closed when the Pakistani military demanded visas and passports from Afghan truck drivers, the statement said, adding efforts are underway to reopen the gate. Meanwhile, Naqibullah Safi, CEO of Afghanistan-Pakistan joint chamber of commerce, said that Pakistani officials have once again decided not to allow drivers lacking valid passports and visas, according to the statement.
