Pakistan hands over 49 Afghan detainees to Afghanistan

JALALABAD: Pakistan has released 49 Afghans detainees from its jails and handed over to the Islamic Emirate authorities, a statement from the Information and Culture Department of the country’s eastern province of Nangarhar said the other day. “Forty-nine Afghan refugees who have been arrested by the Pakistani officials for having no legal documents have been recently released and handed over to the local officials of the Islamic Emirate in Torkham ground port of Nangarhar province,” said the statement. As many as 2,083 Afghan prisoners have recently been released from different jails of Pakistan and returned to their country. This is to be noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran had earlier released dozens of Afghan prisoners who have also been jailed on the charge of having no legal travel documents and handed over to the officials of the Islamic Emirate.
