Pakistan hands over 208 Afghan detainees to Afghanistan

JALALABAD: As many as 208 Afghan detainees have been released from Pakistan jail and handed over to the Islamic Emirate authorities, the country’s foreign ministry said in a statement the other day. The Afghan detainees were released from the prisons of Sindh state of neighboring Pakistan, by the efforts of the Afghanistan Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate General of the country in Karachi and returned to the country, according to the statement. So far, more than 2,000 Afghan prisoners have been released from different prisons of Pakistan and returned to the country. As many as 2132 Afghan prisoners have recently been released from different prisons of Pakistan and returned to their country. This is to be noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran had earlier handed over a number of Afghan prisoners who were also prisoned on the charge of not having legal travel documents to the officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
