Over one million Afghan refugees returned home within past year, Haqqani

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriates Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, during a meeting, with Shoko Shimozawa, the head of supplies and immunity of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, said that more than one million Afghan refugees have returned to the country during the past year. Haqqani added that the returned Afghans from the neighboring and other countries of the world have been provided with essential services and facilities by the Islamic Emirate, the ministry said in a statement the other day. Meanwhile, Shoko Shimozawa, who recently returned to Kabul from Pakistan, shared the details of her trip with Minister Haqqani and said that she has asked the Pakistani authorities to renew the refugee card for Afghan immigrants and treat them well, according to the statement. Also, Haqqani expressed plea sure over the cooperation of the United Nations organizations with Afghanistan and emphasized on further cooperation and coordination of the organization with the Islamic Emirate.
