Over 5910 beggars collected across Kabul city

KABUL: The beggar Collection Committee, led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, Hajji Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, has collected 5914 beggars from different parts of Kabul city until September 13, the deputy PM press office said in a statement the other day.
A total of 3872 of beggars who have been collected across the city are female, and after evaluation, 1069 of them have been considered deserving, while 2803 others found to be false beggars.
After evaluation, 138 out of 518 males were found deserving while 380 of others undeserving.
From 1524 children, 763 have been evaluated to be deserving and 723 undeserved. Among the deserving beggar children, there are 38 children with no caretaker.
After the biometrics, unaccompanied beggar children have been taken to the maintenance and training centers by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and provided with livelihood and education. The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has begun distributing cash to deserving beggars, and hundreds of people have benefited so far. The Kabul Times
