Over 5,800 Afghan migrants deported from Pakistan, Iran in past three days, ministry

KABU: A total of 5,841 Afghan refugees have forcibly been deported by the neighboring countries of Iran and Pakistan in the past three days, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations said in a statement the other day. According to the statement, 5,360 Afghan migrants have been deported from Iran and 481 from Pakistan and entered the country via the Islam Qala and Torkham borders within the past three days. Most returnees confront a multitude of difficulties, including the absence of adequate shelter, clean water, medical services, and employment opportunities. The returnees after registration with the provincial refugees and repatriation departments, have been introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to receive essential assistance, the statement said. Pakistani and Iranian governments have so far deported over a million Afghan refugees in the past years. The Kabul Times
