Over 4,000 Afghan migrants return from Iran, Pakistan within days, ministry

KABUL: As many as 4,400 Afghan refugees have been deported by the Iranian and Pakistani governments and returned to the country in the past days, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations said in a statement the other day. According to the statement, 3,943 migrants have been expelled from Iran and returned to the country via the Islam Qala border crossing. After registration, they have been referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office to receive food and non-food aid, the statement said. Also, seven unaccompanied children were referred to the WARCHILD institute for family tracing, 88 families received 10,000 Afghanis each, and 120 individuals received a free SIM card from the obligated committees at the border, the statement added. Meanwhile, 451 Afghan migrants have been deported from Pakistan and returned to the country via Spin Boldak and Torkham borders. The Kabul Times
