Over 3,000 Afghan families return from Pakistan in 3 weeks

JALALABAD: A total of 3,180 Afghan families returned from Pakistan to the country in the past three weeks, the Refugees and Repatriation Department of Nangarhar said in a statement on Sunday. “As many as 3,180 Afghan families who had forc ibly been deported by the Pakistani government for not having legal documents, they arrived in the country through Torkham crossing border in eastern Nangarhar province in last three weeks,” the statement said. They were introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance after their registration with the provincial Refugee and Repatriation Department, the IOM has provided them with nearly 85 % food and non-food assistance, the statement added.
