KABUL: The second consignment of up to 2,000 tons of wheat from India is on its way to Afghanistan, a report said Sunday.
The 36-truck fleet is said to take its way to Afghanistan from Pakistan through the Wagah border in Lahore, on Saturday evening. A Pakistani newspaper, Dawn quoted an unnamed official as saying Afghanistan found it hard to lift the entire wheat stock of 50,000 tons from India within the stipulated timeframe of a month. So far, the newspaper said, Afghanistan had transported only 4,500 tons of the India- donated wheat from February 22 to March 5. Around 45,500 tons of wheat remain to be lifted, according to the source.
