Over 2,900 kg of narcotics seized, 50 suspects arrested in Samangan in one year

AYBAK: A huge amount of 2,960 kilograms of narcotics have been discovered and 50 allegedly drug dealers arrested in the country’s northern province of Samangan over the last one year, the provincial police office said in a statement Tuesday. Police spokesman Mawlavi Habibullah Shakir said that the counter drugs police personnel during a series of operations have discovered and seized 2, 960 kilograms of narcotics including methamphetamine, alcohol, heroin, tablet K and hashish in various parts of the province in the last solar year, according to the statement. “The seized drugs have publicly been burned and the arrested individuals in connection with purchasing and trafficking of the drugs have been taken to the judi ciary and justice organs for further investigations,” the statement quoted Mawlavi Shakir as saying. The provincial police spokesman according to the statement, went on as saying that 9 narcotics processing factories have also been destroyed in various parts of the province in the past one year. Also, thousands of kilograms of narcotics have been discovered and seized and hundreds of people on charges of purchasing and trafficking of the drugs have been arrested, as well as scores of narcotics processing labs have been destroyed in various provinces of the country in the past one year.
