KABUL: As many as 2,731 Afghan refugees returned from the Islamic Republic of Iran the other day, the provincial Refugees and Returnees Department of the country’s western province of Nimruz said in a statement Wednesday. “2,731 Afghan refugees have voluntarily returned from Iran Islam Qala port of the country’s western Herat province,” the statement quoted. Of 2,731 returnees 547 of them have been identified to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to receive cash and food assistance, the statement quoted head of Islam Qala port as saying. After the takeover of the country by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) a large number of Afghans migrated to the neighboring and other countries of the world and after some development in the region, particularly, in the neighboring countries, Afghan refugees are now returning to their home country. The Islamic Emirate also calls on Afghan refugees who are living in foreign countries to come to their country and work together for the development and prosperity of the country. In the past few months over 53,999 Afghan refugees have returned from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Kabul Times
