Over 2,000 Afghans return home from Iran

KABUL: As many as 2,627 Afghan refugees returned from Iran to the country, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MORR) said in a statement the other day. “At least 2,627 Afghan refugees returned home, via Islam Qala ground port of the country’s western province of Herat,” the statement said, adding that about 1,282 of them have been introduced to the provincial Agency of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for receiving necessary assistance. The number of Afghan refugees returning from Iran to the country has eye-catchingly increased in recent days; as tens of thousands of Afghan refugees have voluntarily or forcibly returned to their home country, the statement added.
