Officials announce new urban taxi plan

KABUL: In a joint press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) the Interior Ministry and General Directorate of Kabul Traffic on Tuesday announced a new plan for urban and provincial taxis. This plan aims to provide secure taxi services for the citizens The General Directorate of Kabul Traffic developed a three-month procedure for taxi owners, and it will be in place in all the provinces of Afghanistan. According to the officials of this department, the color of urban and provincial taxis was changed to blue and white based on the International Convention on Road Traffic. In the press conference, the head of the General Directorate of Kabul Traffic, Hasibullah Mukhtar said the traffic department has taken a series of steps to change the traffic system fundamentally to provide better urban services to the citizens. “The taxis shall be segregated from other vehicles that transfer the goods and shipments,” he added. Mukhtar assured the safety of the drivers who want to use these taxis for three months.
