Office of PM receives medalwinning athletes of taekwondo federation

KABUL: The Head of the Office of the Prime Minster Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi has met with medal-winning athletes of the taekwondo federation to appreciate them, the office of PM said in a statement the other day. The meeting was participated by a number of government officials including the Director of National Olympic Committee and General Department of Sport Mawlavi Ahmadullah Waseeq, Technical and Professional Assistant of Physical Training and Sport General Department Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran, Executive Director of National Olympic Committee Dad Muhammad Payandah Akhtari, the statement said. Mullah Wasi appreciated the six athletes of the Taekwondo Federation, who brought 14 different medals from the South Korean competitions, the statement added. Expressing happiness, Mullah Wasi said that Afghan athletes not only participate in foreign com petitions; but they also bring medals and honors from these competitions at the world level, the statement further added. Afghan players, who left three weeks ago for South Korea, have bagged six medals, two silver and four bronze, in the Kim Onyong Cup. The cup in Chuncheon features 220 taekwondo athletes from 30 countries. Afghanistan has also won the gold medal in the heavyweight category for the first time. Mohammad Nabi Naibi
