No journalist killed since IEA takeover, Minister Khairkhwa

KABUL: The acting Minister of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa said that since the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, no journalist has been killed or imprisoned under the pretext of political consideration.
Speaking to a number of media people at the international conference hall of the ministry, he said: “Since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, no journalist has been reported killed or jailed based on political considerations.”
Hearing the suggestions and problems of media representatives, the acting minister assured that their problems would duly be met.
Deputy Minister of Information and Culture for Publication Affairs also spoke about the issue and called on the media outlets to do their publications under the Islamic Sharia.
Head of Publications of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Abdul Haq Hammad also spoke on the issue and said the mass media law, which were made during the past government are applicable with some amendments.
He said in the past, the mass media law was an empty name and have been carried out in the interest of powerful men. “Now, no problems are faced by the country’s free media and they can do their publications under the Islamic Sharia.” Mohammad Daud
