National conference on economic development held in Paktia

KABUL: The first three-day National Conference on the country’s economic development has been started at Paktia University, the state-run Bakhtar News Agency reported the other day. The conference was attended by a number of high-ranking government officials including the Acting Interior Affairs Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Acting Minister of Higher Education, Shaikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Shaikh Shahabuddin Delawar and academic staff, the agency said. Speaking at the conference, Khalifa Haqqani said religious schools and contemporary schools are necessary for each person and we should grow both ideologically and technically for the development of the country, according to the agency. Also, Neda Mohammad Nadeem said the conflict is over, and now is the time for everyone to work together to advance and rebuild the nation. “If a country has an economic strength, it will be strong in the military field and secure borders. in terms of medicine and physicians, we are in need. We are weak in terms of military means, but if we have economic strength, all of these problems would be resolved,” the agency quoted Nadeem as saying. The Kabul Times
