Mutual respect needed to achieve peace & development, CE

Attended by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, senior officials of different countries, international and regional organizations, politicians and traders, the 30th Crans Montana Forum was held on Thursday in Swiss under the theme of ‘Is achieving peace, development and stability a dream?’
According to the Bakhtar News Agency (BNA), thanking for invitation, Chief Executive (CE) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said that I was proud to be a member of the organization for years where I hear to different politicians and personalities’ views to improve mankind situation.
“We gathered around here to hear from each other and play our key role in bringing positive changes in mankind’s situation and fate,” Dr. Abdullah said. CE Abdullah added today’s world is not yesterday’s world. The situation has fundamentally changed, cold war has ended and we have been witnessing speedy changes in term of communications and technology, he went on to say.
Pointing at some challenges, CE Abdullah said that we could name poverty, insurgency, extremism, violence, immigration, climate change, cyberwarfare, etc. among them.
Related to Afghanistan, Dr. Abdullah said that Afghans have been suffering war for forty years, adding presidential election is about to be held in upcoming months and we hope to have a transparent and fair election. He stressed that the people of Afghanistan support a democratic process and they have been fighting insurgency since long.
Peace efforts are ongoing in cooperation with Afghanistan’s friendly countries and we hope it follows with positive results and we witness maintaining lasting peace and stability in the country, CE Abdullah continued. Likewise, appreciating the international community and friendly countries’ assistances to Afghanistan, CE Abdullah asked for continued joint cooperation.
It is merit to mention that Armenian President and a number of other countries’ prime ministers also delivered speech and shared their views on different issues.
