Muttaqi saddened by President Ibrahim Raisi, his accompanying delegation’s demise in helicopter crash

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a meeting with Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian ambassador to Kabul and special representative of the President of that country, expressed his deepest condolence for the death of Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi, the President of the Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister, and their companions who lost their lives in the aircraft’s crash, according to a statement from the ministry the other day. Addressing the meeting, Muttaqi said that the Islamic Emirate and the people of Afghanistan are saddened by the occurrence of the incident and express their sympathy and grief to the government and people of Iran, according to the statement. “The Islamic Emirate and Afghans stand by the brother nation and government of Iran in this tragic accident,” the statement quoted Muttaqi as saying. As a result of the helicopter crash carrying the President of Iran, 8 people, including senior officials and helicopter crew, lost their lives. Offering prayers for the souls of the departed and expressing solidarity with the people of Iran, Muttaqi also emphasized the importance of Iran’s role in regional cooperation, particularly with Afghanistan. Ambassador Qomi expressed his gratitude for the condolences and stated that the Iranian government and people deeply appreciate the support from Afghanistan and confirmed that the message of condolence was received promptly, in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
