KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a meeting with the Ambassador and Special Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Afghanistan, Hassan Kazmi Qomi, discussed strengthening of bilateral relations, the ministry said in a statement the other day. The meeting discussed several topics including regional developments, strengthening of relations and other bilateral issues between the two countries, the statement said. Mawlavi Muttaqi evaluated the relations between the two countries as friendly and positive and emphasized the bolstering of relations between the two neighboring countries in various fields. Meanwhile, Qomi expressed gratitude for the position of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) against the brutal aggression of the Zionist regime in Gaza and the condemnation of the Israeli regime’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. He added that water is an important factor in the expansion of bilateral relations, expressing hope that water flow to his country will continue. Also, Muttaqi noted that there were good rains in the country this year, as a result of which, after several years of severe drought, Helmand River’s water flowed to Nimroz province of Afghanistan and into Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran.
