Muttaqi discusses bilateral ties with his Iranian counterpart

KABUL: The Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a meeting, with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdullahian discussed the expansion of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Iran, the ministry said in a statement Monday. Both sides discussed a series of issues of mutual interest including taking effective measures to strengthen political, economic, commercial and transit relations between Afghanistan and Iran, the statement said. Referring to the situation of Afghan immigrants and prisoners, Muttaqi asked the Iranian FM minister to address their problems and provide them with necessary facilities in that country, the statement added. Praising the positive and firm position of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) about the Palestine issue, Amir Abdullahian assured the cooperation of Iranian institutions in solving the problems of Afghan refugees and prisoners.Previously, Minister Muttaqi at the head of a high-ranking delegation had left for Iran to attend the consultative conference on the Gaza Strip.
