Muttaqi asks for Indian visa facilitation for Afghans

KABUL: The Indian Special envoy for Afghanistan, J.P Singh, in a meeting with the Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, said that his country is interested in enhancing political and economic ties with Afghanistan. The meeting discussed some important issues including strengthening the economic and transit ties between the two countries and issuance of visas for Afghan businessmen, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement the other day. Considering the bilateral trade and transit between Afghanistan and India as significant and valuable for the eco nomic development of both countries, Mawlavi Muttaqi emphasized the further development of relationships between the two countries, the statement said. Muttaqi thanked India for its humanitarian assistance and said that IEA wants to strengthen political and economic relations with India, and asked India to facilitate the visa issuance process for Afghan businessmen, students and patients. Also, J.P Singh said that India was interested in expanding political and economic cooperation with Afghanistan and enhancing trade via Chabahar port. He added that India has provided humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in various areas in the last two and a half years. The Kabul Times
