More than 2,450 prisoners set free on Eid-ul-Fitr advent

KABUL: A total of 2,460 prisoners have been freed from the country’s jails, on the advent of the religious Eid ul-Fitr festival, a statement from Supreme Court said on Wednesday. “The 2,460 released prisoners who had earlier been jailed on charges of various crimes have been released and the prison terms of the remaining 471 others have been discounted, under a decree from the IEA Supreme Leader, on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr festival,” the statement said. The released prisoners have been advised not to disturb the order of families and communities and resolve their disputes through religious and legal consultations with the elders and religious scholars.
