MoPH seeking world support to strengthen health sector

In 1948, countries of the world came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health and well-being.

On the occasion of World Health Day, the country’s Ministry of Public Health has stressed the need for creating new health systems, improving nutrition, capacity building of health workers, and providing equipment for treatment and diagnosis. The ministry has added that these are critical areas that need to be addressed to provide quality health services to the people of Afghanistan. The ministry also highlighted its current efforts in collaboration with the international community to address these issues, including the establishment of new healthcare centers in rural and remote areas that have been deprived of healthcare services for decades. The ministry has also underlined the importance of addressing the pressing health needs of Afghanistan’s population and the commitment of the government and international community to provide quality healthcare services to all Afghans. It is worth mentioning that World Health Day (WHD), held every year on 7 April, marks the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948 and each year focuses on a specific public health concern. In addition to focusing on the journey to achieving Health For All, which is this year’s theme, WHO will observe its 75th anniversary under the theme 75 Years of improving public health. In 1948, countries of the world came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health and well-being. WHO’s 75th anniversary year is an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved the quality of life during the last seven decades. It is also an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of today and tomorrow. As one of the first official acts of WHO, they created the celebration of World Health Day. It was first observed on July 22, 1949, but the date was later changed to April 7, the establishment of WHO, to encourage student participation. Since 1950, World Health Day uses a different theme and theme each year selected by the current WHO Director-General, based on the suggestions of the member governments and staff. World Health Day provides a global opportunity to focus attention on important public health issues that affect the international community. On the occasion of World Health Day, promotional programs are launched that continue for a long time after April 7. Momand
