KABUL: Ministry of Interior (MoI) has said that the new Afghan National Police uniform designed in consideration to the country’s four-season climate will be distributed to all police forces in the country.
Speaking in a news conference held yesterday in Kabul, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, deputy minister of interior, said that distribution of the new ANP uniform suggested by the ministry and approved by the country’s Prime Minister and the Supreme Leader was started from today on.
Meanwhile, the MoI spokesperson Abdul Nafi Takor said that the distribution process of the new uniform would be first started from Kabul and Kandahar, adding that the process would soon reach to all provinces of the country.
“Currently, there are 20,000 pair uniforms ready to be distributed to police forces in Kabul and Kandahar,” Nafi said, adding that the number will increase to 100,000 in the coming two weeks.
Takor said that contract for providing the new police uniform has been signed with a domestic company providing them 75 percent cheaper comparing to uniforms provided during the previous government. He considered the police uniform as key for city discipline and order, adding that completion of the process will help improve security in the country.
The MoI officials assured of the ministry’s efforts for professionalism and equipping the country’s national police force, saying that they would not let anybody disrupt order and security in the country. The Kabul Times
