Minister Safi seeking close cultural relations with Indonesia

KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Ms. Hasina Safi, who is visiting Indonesia, met with Indonesian Director for National Museum stressing the need for expansion of relations between the two countries museums, Bakhtar News Agency reported Sunday. “The National Museum of Afghanistan with numerous of its historical artifacts and relics is one of the prestigious museums in the region and the world,” said the agency which is following reports about the minister’s trips to the hosting country, as referred to its website. “Museums were reflecting the culture and history of countries,” said the acting minister adding her led ministry’s officials of national museum were making effort to help new generation of the country get acquainted with the country’s historical artifacts preserved in the national museum. According to the agency, in many provinces of the country, such as Balkh, Kandahar and Nangarhar mobile museums were launched to make them aware of the country’s historical relics and artifacts and efforts were being done to launch similar programs in all provinces of the country in the future.
In the meeting, the Indonesian Director for National Museum stressed on the exchanging of cultural experiences, particularly on the two countries national museums. The acting minister in a meeting with Indonesian Commissioner for Human Rights spoke on the role of women in peace process, their participation in social activities and recruiting them in the government institutions. In the meeting, the Indonesian Commissioner for Human Rights, briefed about the activities and achievements of Indonesian Commission on Human Rights as per part of the commission to address the problems of women in post-war areas and added the government was making effort to pave the way for effective presence of women in various sectors through training and their appointment in government and non-government institutions.
