KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa thanked the neighboring Uzbekistan for its assistance to the earthquake-stricken Afghans in Paktika and Khost provinces of the country.
“We thank the people and Uzbek government and other institutions that send aid for the earthquake-affected families,” Minister of Information and Culture, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa told reporters.
“We know from the past that our friend and brother country of Uzbekistan, stood alongside Afghanistan in different situations,” he said.
Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have common culture and we thank Uzbekistan, because it always considers itself partner of our grief and we must continue political engagement with the brother nation.
“We are all students of one Ulama, some Afghan Ulama are in Afghanistan and some are in Uzbekistan. We are students of each other. We want Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to be a gateway between Asia and Eastern Europe,” the country’s acting Minister of Information and Culture added.
On Saturday, Uzbekistan handed over 40 tons of aid to the country’s State Ministry of Disaster Management, later to be distributed among the earthquake victims of Khost, Paktia, and Paktika provinces.
According to Uzbek Special Representative to Afghanistan, Esmatullah Ergashev, the aid delivered to Afghanistan included flour, cooking oil, clothes and medicines in accordance to the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s instructions.
According to the disaster management ministry’s statement, during the delivery of the aids the Uzbek representative assured of more batches of aids to be delivered to the country’s officials, shortly.
