KABUL: The country’s Minister of Information and Culture Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa opened Book Exhibition held on the advent of Book Reading Week at the Kabul University, a statement from the Ministry said the other day.
The exhibition, according to the statement was held by the Baihaqi Book Publishing House in cooperation with the Book Publishers Union of Afghanistan and the Kabul University.
In a ceremony, attended by a number of government authorities and lecturers and students of the Kabul University, Minister Khairkhwa called holding the book show an important step towards popularization of book reading in the country, the statement quoted.
He encouraged the youths towards book reading and said that education youths can play key role in the development of the country and tranquility of the people.
“After the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, wide ground has been paved for the youths to get educated and serve their country via their knowledge,” said the minister.
Deputy to the Ministry of Information and Culture for Publication Affairs, Zabihullah Mujahid who is also the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, also spoke about the role of book reading culture in promotion of knowledge and awareness of the youths and said the the only way to overcome the available challenges, is education and learning knowledge.
“The Ministry of Information and Culture has tried its best to exhibit good books in the book show and that the aim of the exhibition is to create book reading motivation among the youths,” the statement quoted him as saying.
