Minister inaugurates water supply project in Herat

KABUL: The acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhundzada, during his visit to the country’s western province of Herat, in an official ceremony, inaugurated a water supply project worth 32 million Afghani (some 451,520 U.S. Dollars) in Kuhsan district of the province, the ministry said in a statement Tuesday. The ceremony was participated by several provincial authorities, scholars and Mujahidin, the statement said. Mullah Yunus emphasized that besides the water supply projects, there is a strong focus on constructing check dams in underprivileged regions and check dam construction is underway in all districts across the provinces of the country, according to the statement. With the successful implementation of the water supply project, more than 1,200 families have been provided with clean and safe drinking water in the district, the statement concluded. The initiative is a significant step towards improving the lives of the local community by ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water. The Kabul Times
