Minister Hanif, UNDP representative discuss establishment of joint committees on humanitarian aids

Stephen assured the UNDP’s readiness for the implementation of development projects based on the urgent needs of the people, the statement said.

KABUL: The acting Economy Minister Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, in a meeting with Stephen Rodriques, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative, here in his office on Monday, discussed coordination and establishment of joint working committees on the humanitarian aid process. Stephen assured the UNDP’s readiness for the implementation of development projects based on the urgent needs of the people, the statement said. According to the statement, he also assured of his organization’s cooperation in supporting small and medium enterprises, developing trade and banking activities, managing water through the construction of agricultural water facilities as well as cooperation in alternative poppy cultivation with farmers. The acting Minister of Economy, while welcoming the UNDP’s cooperation that creates job opportunities, emphasized the urgent economic priorities. A joint technical team from the UNDP is set to begin work related to changing the trajectory of development and humanitarian aid. The Kabul Times
