Measures should be made to reduce natural disasters risks, Deputy PM Beradar

KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Berader Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate urged the related organs for taking measure to control natural disasters, his office said in a statement the other day.
In a meeting held to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the deputy Prime Minister said: “Natural disaster is from Allah almighty, but we as the servants (obedient) have to take measure to control it,” the statement said.
He pointed to the recent floods and its distractions in some provinces of the country including the country’s southern Paktika province and said that the ongoing climate change and recent natural disasters have caused heavy and seasonal rains in Afghanistan and other parts of the world and resulted in heavy floods and human and financial losses
The floods also caused severe earthquakes in the south-east of the country, where thousands of people have been affected, according to the statement.
Thanking the responsible organizations for their hard work for the flood affected families, Beradar said the IEA has tried to help the affected people and save their lives.
“We have to take care of the victims and be fully prepared to help them in the future, as now the Islamic Emirate is capable to deal with such incidents,” the statement quoted.
The deputy Prime Minister said that aids are still being provided to the victims of the earthquake in Paktika province, and he as the deputy PM for Economic Affairs, has to instruct for building houses for the quake affected people in the province.
He instructed the related officials for providing more facilities for the construction process of the houses for earth-quake affected families. The Kabul Times
