Mansour inaugurates Amu River’s fortification work in Takhar

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Energy and Water Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour during his visit to the country’s northern province of Takhar inaugurated fortification work of the Amu River’s bank in the Dasht-e-Qala district, the ministry said in a statement on Monday. Mullah Mansour during his trip also inspected the ongoing fortification work in the Mawarae-Kokcha districts region, according to the statement. Referring to the fortification projects of the river, Mansour said the fortification work of the Amu River’s bank was underway in Takhar, Kunduz, Balkh and Jawzjan provinces to ensure the protection of local residents and agriculture lands, the statement added. “The fortification work will continue in every area which is being threatened by the river’s water,” the statement quoted Mansour as saying.
