Manogi power dam to be completed soon: Economic Commission

KABUL: The meeting of the Economic Commission of the Islamic Emirate was held at Marmarin Palace with Deputy Prime Minister for the Economic Affairs of the IEA Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar on the chair, a statement from the palace said Saturday. The meeting discussed some issues related to the power dam in Manogi district of the country’s eastern province of Kunar, the statement said, tasking the Ministry of Finance to approve invoices of the contractor company. “Construction work of the dam has been completed by 97 percent and the remaining will be completed in the near future,” the statement further said, obliging the contractor company to pay the debtors by obtaining the invoices. The dam has the capacity of producing 2.1 megawatts of electricity and will provide over 4,000 families with electricity in the province, the statement added. Also, the joint committee consisting of the representatives from the ministries of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock and Urban Development and Housing on the chair of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has been tasked by the commission to hold a meeting about reactivation and clarification of the legal status of Boostan Sabz Agriculture and Livestock Company with its stakeholders, the statement further said.
