KABUL: The provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) of Sar-e-Pul province, signed a contract for establishing of of hundred hectares of pistachio forest in Imam Sahib Khord area, in the center of province.
Based on the Ministry’s 1400 fiscal year plan, the work for implementation, rehabilitation and construction of hundred hectares of pistachio forest, that include the construction of 26,600 terraces for pistachio seeds and regiments, as well as the construction of 2,000 cubic meters of rock materials by forestry association started at the total cost of 2 million and four hundred thousand Afghanis, MAIL said.
A Memorandum of Understanding to commence the implementation of the projects was signed between the Provincial Agricultural Directorate of Sar-e-Pul and Forestry Association in presence of the provincial Governor, source added.
The pistachio forest construction program would be funded by the Emergency Agriculture and Food Safety Project (EATS) and the Word Bank.
