Let’s be honest; peace easily comes along

By: M. Wali Qasemi

Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan has said that Afghanistan war had no military solution and during his U.S. visit yesterday, he said would put the same thought in front of the U.S. President Donald Trump.
“I will put forth the same case in front of Donald Trump tomorrow,” said the neighboring country’s prime minister, while addressing the largest gathering U.S. Pakistani community, before his meeting with Trump at the White House.
The remarks come after Afghanistan the seven rounds of direct peace talks between the U.S. and the Taliban group have failed to yield positive consequences.
Afghanistan is marred by critical insurgency for the last two decades and the peace process was initiated in a bid to end war and violence in the heavily war suffered nation.
Tens of thousands of Afghans have been forced to leave their country, after thousands of others were killed or wounded during war and violence between the two sides of conflict in the country.
During the past nearly two decades, Pakistan fueled war and bloodshed in Afghanistan and none of the then prime ministers or the neighboring countries authorities and politicians have voiced for the end of conflict in the country, while Khan is now persisting on the end of war, saying ‘Afghanistan’s crisis had no military solution.’
This is and was very possible to seek a positive, helpful and prolific way for ending conflict and the neighboring country could in the past do its best to do so, but it didn’t want, while now it is seeing that nothing it received from its long interferences and flaming insurgency, wants to enter another door with Afghanistan crisis.
Let’s end war and replace with peace between the legal and democratic system, besides going after restoring the so-called Islamic Emirate, which was once experienced and blamed and enlisted a terrorist group.
But, Pakistan is not honest in its remarks, it has deceived Afghanistan, over the last nearly two decades and even during the Jihad of the people of Afghanistan, it only wanted to keep war continue to utilize its political interests.
If Pakistan wanted peace restore in the country, then, there was no need of thousands of foreign troops deployment in the country, in a bid to crack down on terrorism.
So, if Pakistan want a solution – something other than war, then it should end harboring terrorists, even it should contribute with the Afghan side in elimination of militants infiltrating the two countries’ borders and killing innocent people and destroying schools, universities and religious centers.
It should step up shoulder to shoulder with the government of Afghanistan to place the only option that the group had no choice except reintegration. It should take a clear stance together with the government of Afghanistan, under which, the militant couldn’t find opportunity to reject peace option, except joining direct negotiation with the representatives of the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. On the other, the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban (if they call themselves real Afghans) should jointly work for the end of war as the Afghans are only being killed, wounded and displaced during the indiscriminate military actions, all over the country. The two sides should have realized that war has only killed innocents, destroyed the country and displaced households. Militancy gained nothing during the past long years of up to two decades, even after the fall of the former Soviet Union supported regime.
