Kamal Khan dam, an important project, says Deputy PM Beradar

KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar visited Kamal Khan dam construction process in the country’s southern province of Nimruz, a statement from his office said the other day.
The Deputy Prime Minister also met with the provincial representatives and gave them the necessary recommendations for further improving the vital project’s operations, according to the statement.
“Deputy PM Mullah Beradar praised the efforts of the authorities for the initiatives and referred to the Kamal Khan Dam as a crucial project,” said the statement.
Kamal Khan Dam is a hydroelectric and irrigation dam project on the Helmand River in Chahar Burjak District of the province in south-western of the country.
The hydroelectric plant produces 9mw of electric power in addition to providing irrigation to about 175,000 hectares (some 432,434 acres) of agricultural land.
According to evaluation, its reservoir has the capacity to store up to 52 million cubic meters of fresh water. The Kabul Times
