Kabul Central Silo resumes operation after 29 years of inactivity

KABUL: The Central Silo has started operation after a long inactivity of 29 years in the capital Kabul, the office of the country’s grand storage said in a statement the other day.
The operation of the Central Silo included production of flour and bread, the statement said.
The silo has been said to have two baking ovens to produce thousands of loafs of breads and 60 to 90 tons of flour, in each 24 four hours.
The Central Silo, with the capacity of up to 20,000 tons of wheat and a mill, started operating 65 years ago and in the past, the factory was used as a place to bake and distribute bread to government officers and universities.
Reports said the central silo had an annual income of 4,300 million Afghanis before 1992.
