Joint commission established to provide aid to Herat’s earthquake victims

KABUL: Under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, a meeting was held to appoint a joint commission to provide aid to Herat’s earthquake victims, Arg said in a statement Sunday In order to organize and deliver aid to the victims of the recent earthquake in Herat province, the commission, led by the Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Mawalvi Sharafuddin Muslim and consisting representatives from the ministries of National Defense, Interior Affairs and Public Health Ministries, has been tasked to travel to Herat province as soon as possible to provide medical and necessary assistance to the quake affected citizens. Also, PM Mullah Hasan allocated 100 million Afghani in aid to the quake-affected families in the province. Based on the figures of the State Ministry for Disaster Management nearly 2,500 people have been martyred and more than two thousands of others injured in the deadly earthquake. The Kabul Times
