Japan pledges millions of dollars in fresh aid for Afghanistan

KABUL: Japan has announced 58.4 million U.S. dollars in additional assistance to Afghanistan to address the country’s humanitarian and basic needs, the country’s embassy wrote on its X account the other day. “Japanese government is go ing to provide additional 58.4 million U.S. dollars assistance for Afghanistan to ensure providing humanitarian and basic needs assistance,” the tweet said. The embassy hoped the fresh assistance would help sustain and improve the lives of Afghan people with dignity and self-reliance. “With the upcoming 58.4 million U.S. dollars the cumulative Japanese contributions to Afghanistan since August 2021 will amount to 447 million U.S. dollars,” the embassy added.
