Islamic government obliged to enjoin its nation to virtue

An Islamic government has dozens of responsibilities and obligations toward its nation, and it will be acknowledged and supported by the nation if it fulfills its responsibilities and obligations and performs them in the best manner possible. The gap between the nation and the government may increase, and it becomes detested in the eyes of the people. Therefore, the Islamic Emirate should pay attention to its responsibilities and obligations, as some of them are written below. 1.Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil: First of all, the Islamic government is obliged to encourage its nation to do good and forbid them from evil. As Allah the Almighty said in verse 41 of Surah Hajj: They are those who, if established in the land by us, would perform prayer, pay alms-tax, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil. And with Allah rests the outcome of all affairs. Also, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever among you sees evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot do so, then with his tongue. If he cannot do so, then with his heart, which is the weakest level of faith Scholars say the first degree of responsibility lies with the ruler, who must prevent the forbidden act with their hand. 2.Poverty Alleviation: An Islamic government should hold its responsibility to alleviate the poverty of the community since Islam has its plan and policy. When the Prophet, peace and blessing upon him, appointed Ma’az as the governor for Yaman, he advised him to take Zakat from the rich people and distribute it among the people in need. Suppose the rulers in the current situation act based on this advice. In that case, they will soon alleviate the poverty of society as the sincere and honest Khalifa Omar, son of Abdul Aziz, acted accordingly. The historians wrote about him. Omar, son of Abdul Aziz, was carrying the capital and money in the streets to find a needy person and give him Zakat, but he couldn’t find a needy one. 3.Employment: One of the significant obligations of a government is to create job opportunities for its nation since unemployment is a significant challenge for society, creating crimes and threatening the nation’s life. When the people of a country become unemployed and destitute, they resort to all kinds of crimes, such as theft, prostitution, murder, etc. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the ruler to keep the people engaged and save them from significant threats. 4.Providing Facilities: A government should always make an effort to provide its people with facilities, meeting their basic needs so the nation can have a prosperous life. 5.Education: Education is a fundamental and essential matter of a nation, and the Islamic government is required to create education opportunities for both males and females within the Islamic framework since the nation may develop only through resorting to education since, without education, the government can’t compete with other countries. Therefore, the government should take measures steps in this regard. Although the Islamic government is pursuing all the mentioned matters, the nation urges the government to keep working on this issue. It should spare no effort to continue serving the nation and developing the country. Sayed Asef Fekrat
