Islamic Emirate never interfered in aid distribution process, ministry

KABUL: The Ministry of Economy rejected the recent report of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) claiming that the Islamic Emirate interferes in the aid distribution process, the ministry said in a statement the other day. “This type of report, in this situation that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has been making efforts towards creating positive and constructive interaction and trust building with the international community on the agenda of its foreign policy and economic diplomacy, is non-constructive and an inverted explanation and a deviation from the objective developments in Afghanistan,” the statement said. The Islamic Emirate has always been trying to honestly work and cooperate with international aid agencies and create a safe environment for transparent aid distribution among the deserving people countrywide, the statement quoted. The SIGAR’s report has said that the Islamic Emirate interfered in aid operations including attempts to influence beneficiary selection and staff recruitment, and pressuring organizations to share sensitive data, such as beneficiary information has contributed to a decline in humanitarian access. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan never follows an interventionist approach to the aid distribution process and puts pressure on international agencies, but tries to provide more facilities for them in the aid distribution process.
