Islamic Emirate has taken necessary steps to treat its neighbors truly, honestly, Haqqani

KABUL: Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Roza Otunbayeva, in a meeting with the Acting Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani praised the ministry’s efforts and achievements in ensuring security and fighting against drugs, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday. Speaking at the meeting, Roza Otunbayeva said tangible progress has been made in various fields in Afghanistan including counter drugs, according to the statement. “The challenges facing the new returning Afghan refugees should be addressed on time and the Afghan farmers should be provided with vocational training, necessary facilities inside the country,” the statement quoted Otunbaevea as saying. Praising the efforts of the Islamic Emirate in better managing the returning refugees she added that the international community is monitoring this process and the aid agencies will cooperate with the IEA in the ground. Meanwhile, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani said the Afghan government has provided the necessary facilities for the returning refugees in various areas and assigned various committees made up of different government departments to manage the affairs in an orderly manner. “With the help of the Almighty Allah, significant assistance has been provided in handling the refugees and transporting them to their provinces and the process is still continuing successfully,” the statement quoted Haqqani as saying. He added that International peace and stability, like the peace and stability of Afghanistan, is of particular importance to the Islamic Emirate, and the Islamic Emirate has taken necessary steps to treat its neighbors in a true and honest manner. Haqqani emphasized that past problems and shortcomings should not be linked to the Islamic Emirate and also domestic issues of neighboring countries should not cause problems for Afghan refugees living abroad. He also thanked the special representative of the Secretary General of the UN for the cooperation in the fight against drugs in the country, cooperation with returning Afghan refugees and treatment of drug addicts.
