Islamic banking system should be strengthened, Prime Minister

KABUL: The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, met with the Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank Alhaj Hedayatullah Badri, PM office said in a statement Tues day. Pointing to the recent developments and achievements of DAB, Badri said that necessary steps over keeping stable the value of Afghani currency have been taken, as well as challenges of the worn-out banknotes have been resolved in the market, according to the statement. “New agreements for the printing of the Afghani banknotes with high quality, have been signed with some of the international money printing companies,” the statement was quoting Badri as saying. Badri further said that the activities of the country’s central bank were in accordance with international standards and caused that the bank to be in a better condition. Badri added the private banks were operating in an acceptable condition and they have attracted the people’s trust and support. Appreciating the efforts of the bank’s officials over maintaining the value of the Afghani currency, Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Kabir said: “Preserving the value of the Afghani currency should be prioritized and monetary policies should be carried out in accordance with the standards.” Development and growth of the Islamic Banking system is a need in the country and should be given more attention, PM Kabir said.
