Irrigation canal built in Nangarhar

JALALABAD: An irrigation canal was inaugurated in eastern Nangarhar province, late on Saturday, Mawlavi Abdul Sattar Mohammad head of provincial agriculture and irrigation department said. Costing 6,500,000 Afghani (73,385 U.S. dollar), the 9-kilometer canal has been built in Momand Dara district of Nangarhar province, where Mohammad said more than 2,100 acres of lands would be irrigated. According to the official, the project has been funded by the UNDP with technical cooperation from the Islamic Relief Company. The Kabul Times
