Iran to cooperate in health sector with Afghanistan

Kabul: The Head of the Afghanistan Food and Drug Administration (AFDA) of the Islamic Emirate Dr. Abdul Bari Omer and his accompanying delegation have met with the Deputy Minister of Health in International Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Hossein Niknam, in Tehran, and discuss the quality of food, drug and health products, the authority said in a statement Monday. Both sides discussed the issues of mutual interest including strengthening of economic relations, export of drugs to Afghanistan and high investment in the production of healthy products and drugs in the country, the statement said, adding that necessary efforts should be made to prevent drug trafficking. In the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Health in International Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Hussein Niknam, assured that his country will provide Afghanistan with any possible cooperation in the health sector, according to the statement. This is to be noted that the Head of Afghanistan Food and Drug Administration (AFDA) of the Islamic Emirate Dr. Abdul Bari Omer and his accompanying delegation left for Iran three days ago to talk with health officials of that country, the statement added. A few weeks ago, the Head of AFDA Dr. Omer has also met the Kabul-based Iranian Embassy’s Economic Officer Hassan Shirzadi and assured that the foreign companies which are interested to invest in Afghanistan, particularly in the health sector will be provided with necessary facilities in the country.
