Iran deports 2,600 Afghans in 2 days, ministry

KABUL: As many as 2,600 Afghan refugees have been forcibly sent to Afghanistan over the past two days, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement Monday. The returnees entered the country through the Islam Qala Herat border and were referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance, the statement said, adding that 46 unaccompanied children have also been referred to the WARCHILD organization for family identification. This comes after the Pakistani government expelled thousands of Afghan nationals over the past few days, the move breaking all refugees’ laws and principles, violating the neighborhood principles, and harassing the Afghan refugees.
