Interim government not a solution in Afghanistan: Dr. Abdullah

KABUL: Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in a meeting with media officials by pointing to irresponsibly remarks of Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan said the remarks made by Pakistan prime minister were not acceptable.
“All sacrifices of the people of Afghanistan are for the independence, freedom and selection of their destiny,” Dr. Abdullah said, adding Pakistan should once reach to the conclusion that decision on Afghanistan future is the right of Afghans who want peace and good relations with all.
The country’s chief executive stressed that the government of Afghanistan responded to remarks of Pakistan prime minister through diplomatic channel and called back its ambassador from Islamabad.
“Peace and elections are two key processes for the people and government of Afghanistan and continued efforts are underway in this regard,” chief executive said, adding that the government of Afghanistan is committed to timely and transparent elections.
Pointing to peace talks with the Taliban group, the country’s chief executive said the intra-Afghan talks in which the government would participate was a must for peace in the country, but the Taliban have shown no genuine interest in such negotiations.
Regarding the interim government, chief executive said: “I want to be very clear the so-called ‘interim government’ provides solution to nothing in Afghanistan. Our route to peace and stability must pass through elections.”
“We welcome all efforts towards peace in Afghanistan, but will never allow any country to subvert the right of self-determination of our people or undermine our sovereignty under the pretext of facilitating peace negotiations,” chief executive added.
