Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan informed of supporting Afghanistan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the women’s chamber of commerce has resumed operation with the support of the country’s high economy commission and ministry of industry and commerce.
Officials of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in their interviews with The Kabul Times correspondent said the country’s ministry has made continued effort to organize and coordinate women investors’ activities; therefore, the women’s chamber of commerce and industry has been revived.
“Fortunately, entrepreneur women from Kabul and provinces have gathered under the chamber of commerce and industry, which is an official and prestigious organization, to resume their trade activities in the country,” said Samandar, head of public affairs of the ministry of commerce and industry.
The country’s ministry of commerce and industry has insisted that it will support the country’s women entrepreneurs and tradeswomen in accordance to the Islamic sharia.
It is worth mentioning that Afghanistan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AWCCI) had stopped its operation following the Islamic Emirate (IEA) takeover in mid-August 2021.
Meanwhile, Special Representative of the United Nations General-Secretary in her recent meeting with Afghan women entrepreneurs has said that supporting trade activities of Afghan women entrepreneurs means investing for the future of Afghanistan.
A number of Afghan women entrepreneurs have told The Kabul Times correspondent that the Islamic Emirate should help provide employment opportunities for women entrepreneurs and traders so that they can boost their trade and business in the country.
“Both ministry of commerce and industry and the country’s chamber of commerce and industry should support women entrepreneurs and traders in the country,” said Zarlasht, an Afghan woman entrepreneur.
She asked the ministry of commerce and industry to help Afghan women entrepreneurs in holding exhibitions and get work license. The United Nations Aassistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has said the United Nations is supporting women’s trade activities as an effective workforce and considers activities in this regard as investment for the future of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and women entrepreneurs have appreciated the country’s high economic committee for supporting the Afghan women entrepreneurs, asking the IEA to keep the women’s chamber of commerce open so that Afghan women entrepreneurs can launch their businesses in the country.
