KABUL: The leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), in a statement on Tuesday, extended its grave condolence to Türkiye and Syria over the recent deadly earthquakes that struck the two countries on Monday.
“We wish paradise to those who lost their lives and speed recovery to those injured by the devastating earthquakes,” a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
A separate statement from the IEA’s Deputy Political Prime Minister’s office also expressed its deepest condolence over the incident and said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families at this difficult time.”
The 7.8-magnitude devastating earthquake that struck both Türkiye in the pre-dawn hours of Monday and its neighboring Syria has so far left over 4,700 people dead and thousands of others injured, according to the statement.
